Earlier this fall, Kojima Productions released a trailer for the upcoming anime film Death Stranding: Mosquito. But that’s not the only animated project in the works. Hideo Kojima has now revealed that a brand-new Death Stranding anime series is coming to Disney+.
Kojima and director Takayuki Sano announced the project—currently titled Death Stranding Isolations—live at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. The series will feature hand-drawn 2D animation by E&H Production, with concept art created by Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 character designer Ilya Kuvshinov. The first artwork reveals the two main characters.
The show is set parallel to the events of the first game. The synopsis references Sam Bridges directly and teases that one of the leads carries an unresolved grudge against him.
According to Kojima Productions, the story follows an elderly man searching for salvation, a warrior hoping to ignite endless conflict, a lonely girl, and a boy driven by resentment toward Sam—each battling their own isolation as a new chapter in the Death Stranding universe unfolds.
Death Stranding Isolations will premiere on Disney+ in 2027. Meanwhile, the anime film Mosquito has no release window yet. That project is directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto with a script by Aaron Guzikowski.
Kojima previously declined directing the live-action Death Stranding movie himself. The live-action adaptation is instead being helmed by Michael Sarnoski and produced by A24. Earlier this year, Kojima Productions released the latest game in the series, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
