Earlier this week, Embark Studios launched Arc Raiders’ first major update, North Line. The update introduces a new map called Stella Montis, which was initially locked behind a community-wide objective that required players to contribute resources before it could be accessed. Arc Raiders players wasted no time, unlocking Stella Montis in under 38 hours.
To reach Stella Montis—located in the “cold pristine” region of the Rust Belt—players had to donate a large amount of resources to dig a tunnel to the new area. On Discord, Embark explained that it increased the required amount because players were contributing far more resources than expected. Even with the higher requirements, the community quickly completed the challenge.
With Stella Montis now unlocked, players can explore the map and earn XP within the area. The map is described as containing “eerily pristine” ruins—cold, sterile, and filled with mystery. New ARC enemies also await players there, including two additions to the game: the Matriarch and the Shredder.
Beyond the Stella Montis quests, the update adds an energy burst battle rifle and three quick-use items: an impulse mine, a timed mine, and a gas jump mine. Two new playstyles—Lone Wolf and Trailblazer—are also being introduced.
Arc Raiders recently hit a major milestone, reaching 462,488 concurrent Steam players last weekend, setting a new record for extraction shooters. The game also sold 2.5 million copies in its first week. Despite its success, it has faced criticism for its use of AI-generated voice acting.
