Sony and NCSoft announced a new Horizon MMO, but Guerrilla Games says it's also "busily working on" other Horizon experiences where players can "hunt machines in the world of Horizon."
"More on that to come," the developer added, leaving the door open for additional entries in the franchise beyond the MMO.
Reporter Jason Schreier reiterated that Guerrilla is developing a multiplayer Horizon project and called it "Guerrilla's next big project" following the MMO news.
The Horizon series began with Horizon: Zero Dawn (2017), followed by a PC release in 2020 and the sequel Horizon Forbidden West (2022). The franchise has already expanded into VR with Horizon: Call of the Mountain (2023) and family-friendly spin-offs like Lego Horizon Adventures (2024).
A film adaptation is also in development; a Horizon movie could start filming in 2026 and aim for a 2027 release.
Meanwhile, Sony is in a legal dispute with Tencent over Light of Motiram, which Sony claims is a "slavish clone" of the Horizon series.
On the hardware side, the PlayStation 5 recently celebrated its fifth anniversary and hit a new sales milestone. To mark the moment, GameSpot compiled the top 10 best-selling PS5 games in the US—though Sony says its eventual best-selling PS5 title hasn't been released yet.
