One Of PlayStation 5's Most Played Games Is A Single-Player Title From 2020

The PS5 is celebrating its fifth anniversary, and Sony released a slate of statistics to mark the occasion — including the most-played multiplayer and single-player games on the console. Unsurprisingly, battle-royale titan Fortnite topped multiplayer, while launch title Assassin’s Creed Valhalla remains the most-played single-player game.

Sony reports PS5 players have logged a cumulative 100 billion hours of gameplay across a library of more than 7,500 published games. After Fortnite, the most-played multiplayer titles on PS5 were Grand Theft Auto V in second and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022) in third, beating several other recent Call of Duty releases for the spot.

On the single-player side, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla sits at number one. Close behind are 2022’s God of War Ragnarok in second — a PlayStation console exclusive — and 2023’s Hogwarts Legacy in third.

The anniversary blog also shared other interesting stats: one in four PS5 owners has enabled at least one of the console’s 20 accessibility features. The PS5 has emphasized accessibility more than previous PlayStation consoles, including the 2023 release of the customizable Access Controller.

Sony updated its lifetime sales figure to 84.2 million PS5 units sold, up from the 80 million reported in the company’s prior quarterly results. That total moves the PS5 into ninth place on the all-time console sales list, nudging it just ahead of the Xbox 360 — Xbox’s best-selling console — though the PS5 still trails every prior PlayStation model in cumulative sales.
